Veteran Nollywood actor Owolabi Ajasa has firmly refuted circulating reports of his death, describing the rumours as completely false.
The actor, widely known for his iconic portrayals of police officers and the popular catchphrase “Ta lo pa chief?”, addressed the rumour in a video posted on his Instagram page on Friday.
A fake obituary poster announcing his supposed demise had gone viral online, causing concern among fans and colleagues.
In the video, Ajasa reassured his followers, saying:
“Good day everyone, my name still remains Owolabi Ajasa, your Nollywood police officer. I want to tell all my fans both in Nigeria and abroad that I’m still much alive. I’m alive, hale and hearty. There’s nothing wrong with me.”
He also expressed strong displeasure at those responsible for spreading the false report, adding:
“To everyone posting my obituary around, I’m saying back to the sender to you and your family.”
Ajasa remains one of the most recognizable faces in Yoruba Nollywood, celebrated for his memorable roles as no-nonsense police officers in numerous films.
